William
Wickel, CPA

William graduated from Texas
A&M University in December of 1986 and December of 1989 with
bachelor degrees in Business Management and Accounting,
respectively. He
achieved the distinction of graduating in the top 10% of his
class, Cum Laude, in earning the accounting degree and had a 4.00
GPA in all of his accounting classes.
Between the two degrees, he worked
for The Houston Post as an Assistant District Manager supervising
20 route carriers. After
earning the accounting degree in December 1989, William took a
position with Spain, Price, Reader &
Thompson, a Houston based
accounting and business consulting firm, and worked there
full-time until April 1998. He
continued part-time employment with this firm until April 2000.
William attained his certified
public accountant (CPA) status when he passed the CPA 2˝-day
examination on his first attempt in May 1991.
During his employment with Spain, Price, Reader &
Thompson, his work focused on helping small
businesses in the Houston area with accounting, tax, and business
planning and forecasting issues.
In June 1997, William helped open
the practice with his wife, Dr. Julie
Wickel.
He worked part-time at Claws & Paws Veterinary Hospital®
until April 2000 when he finally was able to switch to full-time
status.
William is a member of
the AICPA and VHMA. In
maintaining his CPA license, William stays current on accounting
and tax issues by surpassing the 40 required hours per year of
continuing education. As
part of this requirement, he typically attends one of the
large veterinary conferences every couple of years to stay current on
management trends and accounting issues that are unique to the
veterinary industry.
His duties include performing/supervising
all
financial related functions for the hospital, computer network administrator,
building & equipment maintenance supervisor, marketing
director, and client care supervisor.
